Anyone have comments or insite about a DRZ400? I owned a KLR650 but got rid of it. My problem with it was, too heavy for trails and viburated like a 25c motel bed on road trips. I did like the fact that it had a lot of after market support. Seems like a DRZ400 is a smaller version, lighter and less vibs on the road. The KLR was comfortable and the DRZ looks like it's goinng to need a different seat. That's all I got on a DRZ.

There are three DRZs in our family. It is a very good solid bike with alot of aftermarket parts. It is not a great high speed bike, but is capable of 60 mph. (I think any more then that and you are starting to work it to hard.) It is a good trail bike, but a little heavy 300 some pounds stock. It is better suited for the dirt and gravel then the pavement, altho it does a nice job if you remember that it is not a high speed machine. PM me if you want to talk to me. 60 MPH is a little slow. Have you ever throught of regearing to a higher ratio? I have done this on my '84 honda XL350R with great success, it was geared way to low. It has a 6 speed trans. and 1st is still good and low. Do you think first gear would be to high on the DRZ if overall ratio was better for high speed?

It will go faster, again this is the speed that I like to keep it around. Also I have geared it down (from 15 stock to 14). I did this because on the trails the sweet spot for rideing was just alittle to fast for me and my wife. It seemed to be about 10-12 mph, with the gearing change it is 8-10 mph. Also are you the Sourdough with the green bike on the TTT ride? We went back for the wolf trap picture.

I'm doing great. I like my DRZ, it is a good bike. Like everything, nothing is perfect. The things that i like about the Z far outweight the things I don't.
