Hey.
Any xr650l owners give me your opinion of your rear brakes.
Mine are almost worthless, and I was wondering if you have the same feelings.
I am a big guy (250+).
System has been flushed and has a lot of pad left.
If you made any changes for the better, I would love to hear what you did.

I bought my bike brand new and the rear brake was a joke. But I bled them out real good and found alot of air in the line. Ever since then they have been pretty good.

I think I'll try new pads next.

I know what you mean by the way they feel "soft". Coming off of 2 stroke racers, the brakes on the 650l feel like they don't work. Even after bleeding mine out they were better, but not even close to as responsive as the ones on my CR's. I would think though without alot of headache, a person could mount the braking system of a CR or CRF to a 650L. Might even see if a shop might beable to turn the rotor or rough it up a little. Make sure that the rotor isn't worn to much through the center, that will have alot of effect on the performance also.

Rotor checked- new pads- bled the brakes one more time - A real improvement, but not what I expected.
I guess I'm just used to being able to lock up the rear brake on asphalt.
