| Anyone planning a mostly pavement ride after breakfast? If the weather is at all okay, Katy and I hope to ride the Stroms to breakfast and then put in a good ride. Thinking towards Bickleton unless someone has a better plan. |

| Damn I would like to hit the breakfast and a dirt or street ride, but the schedule is putting kaput on that. One of these times though. _________________ Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. | After it warms up, we should think about doing this later so out of towners, like myself can ride in for lunch or something. |

| If you plan on riding out at Juniper, you have to have a flag on your bike now. Just a heads up! |

| Anyone going to Juniper, also be aware that since March 1, the north part of the area (the best part IMO) is closed until August. See Juniper Closure |

| The KTM dealer has lots of them! Make sure you have a way to mount it. I'll be going to Juniper if anyone else is. That sucks about the closure though , I was just out in that part in February! |

| I talked to Heather at the KTM shop today. They have flags and mounting devices. I'm going down there tomorrow to get set up. They will be open on Saturday, so if you don't have a flag you could possibly stop by after the breakfast and pick one up. Looks like we will have some Juniper riders on Saturday. _________________ RICHNEWT

| Probably leave Sam's about 10:30, best guess. You should call Sam's and ask them. They serve food in there so it may be legal for you to be in there. Check first though. Flags are supposed to be 6 feet off the ground according to Heather at the KTM dealer. They have them there. Also check the Yamaha dealer and Shumate Honda/Suzuki dealer. Walmart has them in the bicycle section for about $5. Not sure about the mounting with those though. _________________ RICHNEWT

| This is how I mount my flags: I made the mount out of aluminum angle. I bent is just so and drilled a couple of hole so it would mount using two existing bolts (see the two holes in the orange plastic). Goes on and off in a few minutes. Keeps the flag well out of the way. Cost was only a couple of bucks for the aluminum. The flags are cheap bicycle flags we bought several years ago when we went riding at Sand Lake on the Oregon coast and needed flags. On that trip, we just used duct tape to tape the flags to our fork tubes. Worked okay for the day, however, when riding fast, the wind blew the flags back into our shoulder/arm. Still for a one day thing (or the first time) taping a bicycle flag to your fork is a cheap and easy way to go. (Just remove the tape at the end of the day while it is still easy to get off) Be careful using mounts that hook to your rear axle. Have heard of people having issues with the flag getting caught in their wheel. Plus you need a longer flag if you mount it that low. This fun sand hill is in the now closed section: With two of the best sand hill climb areas in the closed section along with other good areas of Juniper, not really worth going out there IMO. The open area is where all the quads hang out. The closed area was the only real area to get away from the crowds of quads. Just going to force more people in a smaller area. Watch out for the quads. If for some reason we don't ride the Stroms and bring our off road KTM's, will drive the extra time to ride Mattawa as opposed to going to Juniper. |

| If we have a big enough groop we could ride where ever we want over at hover. The cops probily would not go after a groop of 10ish, the most they would do is ask us to leave, is any one of you a cop? I went over their about a month ago and one asked me to leave because i told him i did not know about the restriction. If i rember right i think the fine is $500 to $1000 |

What restrictions at Hover? Have ridden there a few times. Great place if you like to climb hills. A few years ago, we rode for hours to the south and west and found a canyon that took us down to the river accross from Oregon. (a few miles west of the grain elevator) |

| Ive onily been over there once about a month ago for about 20 min, thats when the cop told me to leave. They closed a chunk of it off for the wild life or somthing. He told me that it was posted in the news paper. I told him that i dont i dont read the news and was not aware of the restricton. We could just do the same thing and would not get in trouble just asked to leave. There probily wont be any cops out there, patroling the area. I dont know much about it, ive onily been out ther for about 20min, so some of this info could be wrong. It would be better if someone has some more info though. Ill be going to the dunes on saturday if anyone elts is going. |
