Well, had a crappy night, shit going on (still is) so decided to get out this morning. Really wanted to finish up exit 38 before the snow sets in. So most of this you've already seen......but not all!

I did good on the freeway, but once I started to hit the gravel, wasn't sure if I was in the right frame of mind to ride. When I rode sportbikes, i have turned around and gone home because of this. Decided to press on for awhile anyway. Didn't take long to forget my troubles behind. Actually ...

Well, it was just a step up from gravel roads. Got to admit, was a lot more fun thou. Can bomb down some of the grassy roads with little fear of oncoming traffic. Plus I like the slippery feel of the conditions. For some reason gravel is just turning me off lately.

Once again the wifey didn't charge the GPS all the way. Got me out to my enterance to the trails, but that was about it. Really just wanted the compass on it since it's no good on the trails.

Had a late start today. After helping a friend move all day yesterday, a little sore. Left the house around 1100 for Galena. Hit road construction on Index-Galena RD. Right before the construction, saw a sign that said "Road ends in 5miles". So I stopped at the very cute flagger girl and ask her. She said that she didn't know how far you could go. Well I found out the reason for the road closure. Here are just a bunch of pics of that.

Decided to get out today and ride seeing as how everyone else was. After about 30 some miles of freeway, took an exit for some gravel roads. Don't think I even made it up a mile before hitting this. One pic is looking up and one is looking down. Just around the bend it turned to all snow and wasn't any fun so turned around.

Meet a jeep on the road and talked to the guy quickly. Says there are plenty of roads up in these parts. I just have to wait until all the snow is gone.

Well the guys from Federal Way showed us from Pendleton and Tri-Cities, Saddle Mountain in Mattawa today. It is great how we all hooked up from this forum. Remember the pictures never do the ride justice.

The guys did not waste any time putting me on the toughest terrain I've ever been on. They took us up a washout that was just nasty! http://twistys4me.com/video/mattawa.wmv

Going to the top.

Finally made it.

I put in a nice little 105 mile tour of the area today. Spent most of it on the dirt roads around here. I would like to see if there is any way to get to Coulee dam on the back dirt roads. They aren't real exciting but better than tarmac! I wanted to hear from others about their top speeds. In the dirt, wide open throttle, I can get 75mph, thats it. Not real terrific compared to my 5 hundy, but good enough. I tried to gps all of it, but lost reception when I put the unit in my pocket.
I couldn't resist riding on a day like this.

I had to give the new boots a try and see how the healing foot felt after a quick ride.

Only a few pics from the old cistern...my only stop.

View to the East.

View to the West.

And, an attempt at a self portrait.....It looks like I'm wincing in pain from kneeling down on my bad foot...

Well nobody wanted to go with, so did it solo. Probably a good idea since I am so slow. lol

The pics totally suck shinola since it the phone camera. Ruined my other one and nobody will buy me one, (i'm too cheap and broke right now).

*First pics are the worst.

Here is getting the equipment ready last night.

This is my gas caddy to carry in my backpack. Figured it must be ok since it was used to store acidtone. Too bad the lid is not leakproof.

Now getting the gps ready. Pics don't ...

Well just got back from another little jont around the block. I think that my biggest thing to overcome is the simple difference between 2 and 4 strokes. I rode street out to our sand dunes here and froze my ass off, but thats ok cause it was good to get out again. We have a rode that follows the peremiter of the orv area here all nice and compacted silty loam and sand. Perfect for 65 mph flat track slides around the sweeping corners! I took it out into the sand for a bit. We have been having ...

Not much of a ride, but I couldn't take it anymore, so last night after dinner I got on the XR and took it out to Stratford and back. Just pounding pavement which bites, but it's something. I think I'm still CR spoiled though. I am still very used to twisting the throttle and having dump truck loads of power on tap and am having a hard time getting used to the power delivery on the XR. I was actually looking at KTM 990's last night after I got back, but don't have 15K burning a hole in my pocket. ...
