A guy I know here in Cashmere has an 04 625 sxc and loves it! The LC4 engines are indestructible, and great for high mileage, so 4k is nothing. If you're looking for a dual sport, and the price is right, then I say pick her up like a 6 pack thumb

Lot's of info on that bike on advrider.com. The basic motor and frame are the same on all the 625/640 KTM's and the suspension is similar. I think the things about the SXC that might be considered non-dualsportish are less fuel capacity, less oil capacity, and no cush hub(?). On the upside it is a little lighter than the other models and should go like a raped ape!

It should be very reliable however KTM maintenance is sometimes time-comsuming, and internal engine parts can fail usually with plenty of warning.

On my '01 the water pump seal and bearings failed, the thermostat stuck closed, the rocker cover leaked, the TDC sight glass leaked, the countershaft seal leaked, and the speedometer failed. It's Not a Honda.

Great bike! Mine isn't an sxc but same motor. Other than routine maintenance the only thing I have had to do to my 01 lc4 is replace a clutch cable. Bigger tanks are fairly easy to come by i got a 18l tank on ebay for $100. It will need a seat upgrade like all KTMs if it doesn't have one already. 4000 miles is just getting broken in. I bought it new and I'll probably have it forever. Go get it.
