- Spokane County Building and Planning Department Considering Restricting Riding on Most Private Property!
More Info
Plan now to attend upcoming meeting on April 28th! The Spokane County Planning Commission is considering an amendment to the county zoning code that could eliminate recreational riding on most private property!
The proposed restrictions include a minimum parcel size of 10 acres, setbacks of 100 feet from all property lines, setbacks of 250 feet from all neighboring residential structures, limited hours of use and a requirement that only residents of a parcel could ride there.
This proposed amendment would apply to "Motor Tracks" but the included definition makes it clear that just about any type of recreational riding could be subject to restriction. As proposed it reads: Motor Track: A course that is either laid out specifically for, or any part of a parcel that is used for a course or track for, riding of motorcycles, all terrain vehicles, or other off-road vehicles.
Riders, as well as their friends and family, are encouraged to submit written comments by the 4pm April 27 comment deadline and also to attend the public hearing, scheduled to begin at 9am on April 28 at the Spokane County Public Works Building, Commissioners Hearing Room. The building is located at 1026 West Broadway Ave., Spokane, WA.
The Planning Commission will take public testimony on the matter and forward any recommendations they make to the Board of County Commissioners.
