KTM oil drain bolt - Ye Olde OMG & WTF ?

This sucker is on massively tight....any tricks to remove it?

Just use a six point wrench or six point short socket. Don't know why it is so tight. You can try the motor hot or cold.

Impact wrench! Is that a hex or allen? I rounded an allen off on my 07, had to weld something to it to get it out. The KTM drain bolts were notorious for that, don't know about the new engine in yours.

6 sided bolt - never been removed AFAIK. The trans oil drain is right next to it, was a real bear.
Oil drain...it is really on there... I'll try it HOT then next -

Is this a 530? Which bolt are you trying to remove? Tranny side or engine side? Black filter bolts or side bolt?

OOps, didn't read the last post.... Yep, good 6 point socket. You do need to get that one out so you can clean the filter. Dont forget to lay the bike on its side and poor some oil in the filter side before ya refill. Also you probably already know but encase ya don't, only 600cc total including the 50 or so cc's you fill the filter cavity with.

Make sure it aint a worn out 6 point socket! Then give it a couple smart wacks with a hammer. Dont get carried away...just shock it a little. Should come free. Poor quality or condition tools have delayed many a ride day!

I tossed in the towel and let the pros go at it.... I-90 Motorsports got it off and changed the oil against my norm of doing work on my own vehicles. But it is done!

And ride we did - 5 hours on Sunday up in Skykomish. There is some techincal stuff up there!
I think the mountain biking and thousands of bicycle miles does come in handy when offroad.
