Tragic accident at ephrata race track

08/21/11 Motorcyle Race Death



"A five-year-old boy died Saturday evening after being struck by a motorcycle at the Ephrata Raceway Park.

Grant County Sheriff's Department reports a motocross rider, 29 year old John J. Smith, of East Wenatchee, lost control of his motorcycle while racing on the track. Smith and the motorcycle became separated. The motorcycle then struck the five-year-old boy who was sitting on a bicycle watching the race from the track's infield.

The victim's identity is pending release from the Grant County Coroner.

So sad a great sport could take the life of a young boy. Keep these 2 families in your prayers.
