Alpinestars will rebuild your boots (replace soles, fix/replace straps and buckles and/or toe plate/screws) for like $80 and send you a loaner pair if you need them! My understanding is the round-toed soles are more for ATV use, but I'm not sure why that is.
The Gaerne sg-12s are the only pair I know anything about, but a few friends of mine that have Gaerne boots say they are really comfortable and like them a lot.
Fox boots never break in correctly for me and fell apart faster than the cheap ARC boots I bought one time. Not worth the money and I'll probably never buy another pair. I'm not even that hard on stuff!
You might look at Sidi's or 661s too. I've heard good things about both those companies.
