| Don't EVER forget to measure your offsets before you take the wheel apart..... Duct tape and tent stakes This wheel trued up to within a millimeter of accuracy. I think that'll do.... | |

| But I've had a nasty cold this week, so nothing better to do but catch up on my favorite forums. Let's see, here's a motorcycle posing... Can you tell I have a thing for this motorcycle? Her name is "The Mistress," after all.... First ride after putting everything back together - 123 miles of dirt fun (somewhere behind Blacktail Mountain Ski Resort, southwest of Kalispell) Holy sheepshit - I sure am glad I don't have those pants any more... (2 sizes too big) | |

| Chaos-in-Mt, My riding buddy until I got laid off a year ago. Frank! Where are you buddy? He can ride this KLR like no body's business! I think we only stopped twice that whole day! Having too much fun to break out a camera. I was loaded like I was staying out for two days (first run with all my long distance crud). Here's another from a little further back. | |

| Subject: A motorcycle has two wheels... 1/22/2010, 6:13 pm | |
| So if you did the back end, you should probably do the front.
Same routine: 1. Forget to measure offsets 2. Resist drinking beer while using hand drill to update O.D. of nipple holes in rim 3. Lace up the wheel, take it apart, lace up the wheel, take it apart, lace up the wheel, tighten spokes, take it apart, lace up wheel, get it close to center and true 4. Take it apart again, put antisieze compound on threads and lace up... again... true... 5. Put wheel on motorcycle and clamp tent stakes to forks using plastic wood clamps 6. Spend many hours carefully spinning each nipple half turns, every third spoke, three times, check, and do it again 7. Once you think you're close to true, turn each nipple quarter turns, every third spoke 8. Forget to stay on one side to center the wheel, start over 9. Forget to tighten every third spoke and do them all in a row, induce wobble, start over 10. Rely on tent stakes, duct tape and a plastic ruler to true a wheel for 100 mph runs
PRICELESS

| I am going to learn how to use the camera timer this year! I'm sick of taking pics without me in them. Too many lost photo ops because I was alone to enjoy the moment. I've seen a thousand motorcycles like mine, but this one is mine.
This is my XR650R. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My motorcycle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master her as I master my wife. I will learn it as a lover. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage. I will keep my BRP clean and ready, even as l am clean and ready. My motorcycle and myself are the defenders of my soul ... So be it, until victory is America's and there are no more closed gates. God bless the jarheads, grunts, squids and flyboys for not being offended by me hacking the credo.

That's awesome! My boy is almost 3 years old....I hope he takes up the passion for bikes that I have. It would be soooo cool to one day do an adventure ride with your son. Great pics! Hodakaguy

| Freakishly warm weather for February, dug a snow trail from my drive to the neighbor's ice free drive and went for a 20 mile spin around the neighborhood, stopped for gas and got asked "Dude, is that one of those dual sports?" "Is that a 450?" I chuckled, said it was a Montana dual sport, essentially a dirt bike with a plate and no, it's a 650, the dude lost interest when some kid asked him if he liked his new Camaro.... Did I take pictures? No... My kids made off with my camera So I memorialized the event with a map (read=loser=FAIL) but hey, it's still forum content so here ya go Mr.Bill | |

| I might need a second motorcycle for true long distance adventuring - he he (had my eye on these little gems for a long time, almost bought a E900 last spring but the tax refund went to the family fund this year) | |
