| Maybe we can sneak a little fishing in. Overnighter?? Camp at Spotted bear?? Day 1 ride, fish, explore the west side Day one night Camp eat and drink fish more at Spotted Bear. DAY two morning breakfest (Spotted bear) Fish local then explore and fish the east side. Think two days is enough Would be a shame to do this in one day. I would even spring for your dinner at Spotted Bear if we make it a weekender. Riding in Gods country, Fishing, Exploring, beer, good food. This could be fun Chaos | |

Your overnight plan sounds great and I'll start monitoring the forest service for when they start plowing. This could make for a VERY fun weekend. Maybe your other KLR buddies would like to come? I've got all the Jan 2010 MVUM's (motor vehicle use maps) for all our districts except Tally. I called them and she said they should be posting it in the next few weeks. Hungry horse lost a few single track areas connecting the alpine trail but I'd never take my pig up there anyway. Might be fun to go up to the top just to take a peek though. griz

| I was talking to one of my Buddy's last night and he is up for both of your loops. I say do one over to Noxin Res also or add a day to your other loop and start the cut over at Fisher river or Mugginess meadows and run over on the Vermilion river camp at trout creek then cut back across on the Thompson river and pick your loop backup. What do you think? Two trips is OK also.
Chaos
PS. He is not on a classy KLR though, (If I'm already riding with one Honda how much worse Can it look with two, I will have Beamer stickers on mine just to confuse those that will look down on me.)

I love it when a plan comes together. I'll refine my mess of a first draft with your suggestions and see what it looks like. I'll give you a ring after I figure out this week's schedule and maybe we can sit down and put some beer bottle watermarks on our maps to seal the deal. Oh, I almost forgot. It can't look any worse than two Hondas riding with a KLR that is so embarrassed it has to disguise itself with beamer stickers! We all know you secretly lust for what goes with the stickers and we wouldn't look down on you, we already know you're short... Talk to you soon, looking forward to putting some miles on this year! griz

Chaos They usually plow second week of May, let the roadbed dry for a week then open the gates! But I'm keeping an eye on it. Have you been to the new forestry office? You should meet me there Tuesday around 12:15 and we could ask if they think it'll open early

| I went to the Forest service offices at lunch today. They said "we are very important people and why do you think we would want to help you during our federally paid lunch break!?" Just kidding, some poor preggers girl got stuck with the front desk over lunch and had to listen to me for twenty minutes playing the question and answer game. In the end I found out snow mobiles are allowed up around Hungry Horse until the end of may, but the more important thing is the roads are listed as open all year on the MVUM. The lady said as soon as funding becomes available to the contractors, they'll plow the road. In a nut shell, we just have to keep an eye on it. It'll open when it opens, which also means when its drivable. | |

| This loop cracks me up...only because it will be my summer commute this year. So I'll be riding it a lot. The gate on the east side will open up mid-May I doubt it'll need plowed this year as I doubt snowmobiling will last until late May on the west side so good potential for an early ride. An early ride is good too because there is a lot of road work going to be done on both sides of the res. with closures later in the summer... | |

How funny, and additional proof the world is a small place even in the million acre wood. Jim is my neighbor, my next door neighbor... I try to go over and say hi when he's home, but you know how busy you guys are. Well, have a great sunny day. I need to run over to Napa for some coolant to flush my wife's car radiator and pick up some Pamida cat litter to get rid of the old stuff. Can't believe this weather, actually had a campfire Friday night. It was on top of 8 inches of ice in the fire pit, but it was my first campfire of many this season. griz

That's ok, we've got some time to kill before our side roads defrost enough to ride off the main highways and feeder streets. I wouldn't say you are off topic. My cousin lives over by Badrock station. It really is a small world. I can't say I know who Jimmy Cash is but had you started to tell us how you wear a pink tutu after midnight while wrenching on your 990, now that would have gotten my attention and been highly "off topic." ROFL Sounds like you got a helluva deal on a bullet proof work truck!

| Yo Chaos, West side road has been plowed to Lost Johnny Point for a few weeks. Don't think they open the east side road to public traffic until a week before memorial day. Maybe oldtyme could chime in on Hungry Horse back roads? Start throwing some tentative dates out. I would love to do a pre-run for my Selkirks trip before June 11th. | |
