Just under 18,000 miles to date, 90% are commuting. The rest are weekend warrior miles looking for forest roads and trails.

Nice looking ride!  How do you like that front fender with the 21" wheel?  I run a 19" Shinko 705 on my XR650R with a SM type fender, but sometimes get a little mud in the face, so I am thinking of going back to a full size fender?  I really like the 705 tires.

After commuting in the rain a couple times, I realized that I had an issue. There was just so much water coming up and over the fender and into the headlight. 

So I decided to use some spacers, but wanted some visual geometry first. Here is the fender before I started screwing around with it. 
The length of the string is unimportant as its the first 12" that are the most critical.


After the spacers. It is actually a bit lower than this now. I found that an 1/8" at the mount translated to 1/2" at the end, especially at the back.

In the front. Spacers are actually the same size. It's the combination of the lowered fender and the washers on the spacers in front that made the difference. 


With so much un-torqued bolt hanging out, I opted to put blue threadlock on just to be safe. 

I have to say that while I'll be putting 700's on for dirt fun this summer, I'll be going back to 705's in the fall for commuting.
There are 9,384 miles on these and this is whats left. BTW, I used Dyna beads. I'll be using RideOn this summer because punctures suck.

Have you taken any big jumps yet?  Because I think you may have a clearance problem at full suspension travel?

No jumps yet. I took a spin on North Fork Rd Tuesday night. 

There plenty potholes and there was no rubbing that I could see but Cogent and Eibach kept me from bottoming out so
