bought a 2011 DR650 today

hello everyone, i just got my DR650 today. i have spent some time doing research and felt that this was the bike for me. i have owned a 80s Honda XR80, 85 Suzuki DS80, 86 Kawasaki KX80 bigwheel, 2003 Honda XR200R, 1998 Yamaha XT350, 07 Kawasaki Ninja 650R. when i traded my XT350 for the Ninja, i have been regretting it ever since. so today i traded my Ninja in on the DR650.

sweet choice, i love mine. ( 09' DR650) I have done some mods. First thing you should do is the air box mod and DJ jet kit, then suspention work if you way more then 200lbs. There is a ton of info out there for this bike. If you need or want help with anything let me know. Were do you live !

thanks, i will check out those mods. i want to find a fender eliminator or license bracket mod first. but performance mods are brewing in the brain as well. live in Seattle, Magnolia to be exact. i feel so much more at home on the DR then i did my Ninja.

I got my fender eliminator from procycle, they are the DR guys. here is there web site.

These guys know what they are doing. I buy most of my stuff from them. And if you have to call, they are cool to deal with.

hopefully there is a bigger tank option. thats realy the only thing that tilted the scales toward KLR650 for me. either way there is a ton of farkles for both. +1 for suspension upgrade

Hmm... I do have a buddy that bought a farkled up XR that is really a cream puff and his wife wants it gone cause it just sits in the garage...

i am hoping to do some off road riding soon. at the dealership they told me of the dual sport meetup in September near Cle Ellum. is that a big event here in Washington? i've only lived here a few years....

I have never done the one in Cle ellum, but I have a friend at work that goes. He sais it is fun. I guess they are going to change the rout from a 50 mile loop to a run to Wistlin Jacks? I would like to go this year if I can swing it. You should try to get in on the dirtyface ride. Thats comming up June 18th and is big bike friendly. They offer diffrent courses for your skill level.

I think Reno has ridding on his brain, the Dirtyface ride is in Lake Wenatchee !

lol cant help it,,, im waiting on my shock to get back from a spring upgrade. till then im stuck watching other ppls rides on utube and envy those who could ride today
at least i got the date right. all my worry is getting to north bend friday before for a car pool. sit back and relax till its time to ride saturday

i have family come up from Bama in June, so ill miss DirtyFace. But, the Shelton Fun Run is this weekend. if i can get the D606 tires installed this week i plan to do that.

i just bought some dunlop d606 tires today, will have them installed tomorrow. plan on doing the shelton fun run on saturday. who's coming with me?

I wish i could go. I run the 606's on mine also. great tire. I am on my second rear tire. I get mine through Dennis kirk for about $80.00 shiped. ( for rear ) Perreli has a good one also.

are you running 130/90-17's ?

Yep, same size. I heard you can go up to a 150, but that seems like to much. Mount them your self. you can save a little, learn a little and drink a little. Its looks intimidating but its not. plenty of info out there on the web.

I got about 2400 miles, there was still a little life left but fresh tire for a new year of ridding is always a good thing. Thats combined street and dirt. Hard to say how many street miles are on them.

I noticed there was not a tube in the tire but what appeared to be rubber balls ? what are those ? looks like he didnt havre to worrie about pinching a tube !
