Planning for the 2013 Desert 100...CANT WAIT!!!!!! april. 6-7

it seems every year around this time. i get all excited for the desert 100. myself and about 6 others have been going the last few years and i just wanted to inform u all it is coming up and i would like to see some guys from this forum to join us. there are three different events this weekend. first off is saturday the 6th is the poker runs. ironman poker run which is completly all off road consisting of around 80 miles. basicly two loops of 40 miles. also during the same day if u dont want to do the ironman poker run you can do the family run which is a little smaller route. also there is a dual sport poker run which covers a little more distance with some road involved. and the big day is sunday. the 100 mile race which is two laps of 50 miles. i did it two years ago on the little honda and it beat the SH*@ out me. but now that i got a better bike i cannot wait. for the race.

I may be interested. I have never done an actual race before.. which event are you going to do?

I'll be doing the dual sport poker run on Saturday, which if you want my opinion is the better terrain anyway and not a madhouse of riders. There are usually six or eight of us including Chris that camp and do the ride together. More the merrier. I would totally be up for the race but I don't see myself buying a worthy bike before then.

doing the dual sport saturday. and then doing the race sunday. and depending how i feel i might stay the night sunday night.

I am planning on doing the ds ride this year. Earned my badge of honor already for the ironman poker run. I believe my bro in law will be there too. Still aways out so not 100% . Lets say a solid 85% in.

Just sent my money in this week. Doing the race Sunday one last time. I turn 50 before it so only one lap.
Last time I raced I swore I would never do it again, getting too old, blah, blah, blah. It sucked me back in again...
Did the Dual Sport ride 2 years ago on big bikes with a friend. That was a fun option, some spots a little challenging on the 1200.

This was my second year and I had a blast! Last year I attempted the Iron Man and failed miserably. So this year I ran the Family Fun Run and had the time of my life. Brought two new converts who ran the Iron Man on Saturday and then the D100 the next. They are hating life today! Can't wait for next year, want to be in better shape so I can run the Iron Man.
