I had to move my bike out of the garage today to get it out of the way of some other stuff I was doing, so decided to go for a quick spin in the neighborhood. I live out in the county, and ever since I moved in here about 6 months ago, I have been eyeing the hill right out from my garage. Turns out, it was really fun. While normally loose and sandy, with all the rain we have had on and off, it was deceptively packed, but acted like mud. Good traction then, boom sideways and spinning the rear. What I found when I got up there though was that I am probably only about 100 yards from a county road that connects to a plethora of other county and forest roads that go on for miles. Yeehaw!
The main point here though is, I only headed out for about 45 minutes. But man, did that make all the difference today. It has been a pretty intense week, and little did I know how much I needed that ride. Put a huge smile on my face, and just lightened the load by a factor of 10. So my advise to everyone is, you don't have to wait for the weekend to go for an all day ride. If you have just an hour or so, that may be just enough to really break free of the grind. I hope everyone had as great an afternoon as I did. Can't hardly wait for spring.
