Well rode from my place around the Mt Loop Highway, and did some exploring along the way. I found a few roads I really would like to get back to at a later time. I couldn't do all the exploring that I wanted, I started to run out of daylight. About 9hrs I took with a lot of stops and exploring. probably the best ride this year so far. Lots of great scenery.
Started at around 1130 on the Granite Falls side... headed up toward Boardman Lake to explore...
One of the roads was washed out and blocked off.. the bridge after the roadblock was badly damaged as well. I talked to the FS guy, he said he was going to fix the roads up this July.
It was a lot hairier than it looks...
anyway
After going under and over fallen trees and through 6" of snow in parts of the road, I got to these two trees across the road, and said OK enough. It would have been too much of a pain to get my bike over this by myself.
FS guy's truck. He had a sweet Fat Cat in the back, I should have snapped a photo of it.
FS guy in the distance cutting trees across the road before the washout
Another dead end with a nice view
Another road, on the way up
Old bridge remains near the highway
Silverton
Big Four Mountain
Big Four From
"Scenic Lookout"
Barlow Pass area.. I want to check this road out later for sure.. the wagon trail
I Really want to explore this one.. it was getting late though and I have to work tomorrow... and I would hate to push my bike through the mud by myself in the dark too if I broke down or something.
There were some jeep tracks smashing through the brush and tree limbs, through almost 1ft of mud in places... very overgrown, but according to the GPS it went a LONG ways up the mountain.
New Sauk River Bridge... took the FS 24 RD up through the hills from here to Darrington.. my camera phone battery died here..
White Chuck
After I got off 24 and got into town, I stopped by the Burger Barn and had some fried zuchinni and mushrooms with a shake.. delicious
