winthrop july 16th 17th 18th

i just found out that i will be going to winthrop july 16th 17th 18th for a camping trip. i will be bringing my bike to do some exploring. is anyone interested in heading over there?

be sure to go check out harts pass out of mazama, it's a fairly short ride but well worth it. you can drive a vehicle up there as it is just a forrest service road, but it has it's spots i may be able to meet u somewhere, it is only about 90 miles from home, an i can connect oroville to winthrop with very little pavement through conconully. you could also go up the chewack river, lots of burnt forrest and there is a nice monument for the 4 firefighters that were killed on the tripod fire a few years back. i'll see what my schedule is like as the date comes closer, should be able to get awat one day.

that would be awsome, i am not famillar with the roads up there. i think im going to get some maps from the DNR for that whole area.

where are you camping at?

lake pearrgyn and that resort campground i forget the name we got reservations there

how about saturdar?? need to weld up the frame on the old 650 this week an i'll be ready to ride.

i can meet you in winthrop, we could go up harts pass, i haven't been there yet this year. it's a fairly short ride, depending on what time we leave might have time to run up the chewack river also. bring your coat it's cooled off a bunch here the last couple days. an bring lots of mosquito dope too! or we could head up towards freeze out pass, or baldy pass. doesn't matter to me where we go it's up to you as i've seen it all many times.

any distance?? are you sure about that? you could get the grand tour. ithere is a small minimart/gas station on the main road going towarn okanogan, it's across the bridge on your left. say around 9:00 am?

we could go to spectacle lake? it's only about 75 miles of dirt from winthrop, several ways to get there ,an all are 90% dirt. just a thought.

how far east out of winthrop is that minimart? before twisp right?

it's still in winthrop city limits. just a bit after you cross the bridge.

sounds good 9am saturday at that minimart. im sure i cannot miss it

should i bring my extra gallon of gas? i only have a 2 gallon on the tank. and prolly can get at least 100 miles on a tank.

oh, i'm sure it can be missed. but winthrop is not that big, so i'm sure you'll eventually find it. might not hurt to bring the extra can, ya never know.
