| this was taken at coldfoot alaska 250 miles north of fairbanks, this guy had shipped a 660 yamaha, that is not available in the u.s. from great britian to nova scotia an then rode all the way across canada by him self an was headin to prudoe bay when the ol yammy decided to take a shit on him. so a truck driver named lester[hell of a nice guy] agreed to give him a ride down to fairbanks, so we gave um a hand loading and then continued north | |

| this is some place in the yukon, or way north in bc, can't remember for sure. anyway this guy was from austria i think, his english wasn't very plane to say the least. he flew to vancouver and rented a klr and was touring around bc an the yukon. we ran in to him after his rear trunk blew off the bike while goin down the highway, it had this hand made acordian lookin thing and his passport in it. so my cousin an i helped cobble the trunk back on. i never thought i would find anyone more mechanically declined than my cousin, boy was i wrong, that friggin austrian was a butcher.[mechanically] he said he worked for mercedes benz,[ figures ]. when we were done he played us some thing on the music box, to thank us i guess. played it bout like he mechaniced. we would run in to him later in our travels. | |

| the alaska pipeline is pretty impressive, being the fact that i do alot of pipe welding i was pretty ahh. struck at the size and terrain and all the obstacles and problems that they had to deal with on a project this size. but after following it and stearing at it for 900 miles and 23 hours i was gettin pretty sick an tierd of lookin at it. wouldn't ya like to have a garden hose tapped in to that thing, and plumed into your garage!LOL | |

| So when you guys went to Alaska on the XR's, what did you use for your seats? Stock? Mine is like riding on a kiln dried 2x6 after the 50 mile mark. I guess I could just stand the whole time | |

| actually, after the first 1000 miles your ass is so numb the next 5000 is a piece a cake. i went to wal-mart an got a real sheep skin seat cover [something you montana boys know about ''sheep''] i had some help from the old stand by "mom", an we did i little sewing an with the help of some elastic an some small hooks i had a easily removable sheep skin cover. it helps keep the ''monkeys butt'' to a minimum. however [an you don't know how much it pains me to admit this] mechanically declined cuz came up with even a better an cheaper idea that works excelent on those really hot day's of miles an miles. it's one of those covers made out of little wooden bead looking things like the cab drivers use, we cut one in 2 an re-tied it together an some elastic an hooks again, on a hot day it lets some air around your ass an really feels way cooler. you really don't slide around as bad as you might think you would, but if it gets real rough we just put them in our packs. | |

| you could have a lazy boy recliner with heat an massager built in, but after 984 miles of this in 23 hours straight, your ass is just plain sore!!!! | |
