My daughter Jessi has always wanted to ride so I picked up a 1978 DT175 from Hodakaguy. He had taken it all apart and sandblasted most of the bike. Tom also labeled all the fasteners in zip-lock bags. This is a must.

Here we go frame to completion.

Nothing like powder coated mini-tex black. So much for keeping it original. It is only a trail bike so not really a bad thing really. We are keeping the original blue and gas tank graphic.

This is Jessi. Note the bike frame on TV as well.

She didn't drop one.

What is up with all you people and the projects. Mr. Envious says over here.

*I don't know what is cooler, the project itself or your daughter getting in there and working.

Project DT 5543 Great stuff! Going to be a great trail bike too. I had a yellow Yami enduro 125 with the oil injection as a teenager.

Rode that motorcycle every day, jumped it, submerged it, looped it but couldn't kill it Project DT 391375

Thanks for sharing!

To cool! I had a 1970 DT 250, great bike for the times. I always love to see an oldie come back to life.

wow! that brings back some memories, i had a 78 or 79 not sure. mine was red and black blew it up several times, out ran the cops on it once too! [ don't tell your daughter] LOL. mine had 17000 miles when the speedo got wiped off the handle bars in a hillclimbing mishap. had a 12 tooth front sprocket on it, was probably one of the best trail bikes i ever had. keep up the good work Project DT 5543

Wow, that turned out great Project DT 541814

I had a yellow one in high school (125), fond memories indeed.

Finally seeing this bike finished has inspired me to get back in the garage!

Thanks!

So did she learn to ride? Get some use out of it?

*That bike should go quick. Wish I had the money.

Both my daughters learned how to ride on it, but just out in front of our house. They are both very busy and it was just a lower priory. However they both would love to have a bike to ride regularly.
