Craig2211 and I took a ride out to Hover today on the TW's. It felt great to get the TW out again
We stopped for pictures a few times along the way.
On the way out to Hover, Windmills in the background.
Same spot as above
Up by a radio tower.
Stitch from the same place as above.
Craig coming down a hill out at Hover. Great traction today, the moon dust hasn't emerged yet. Another month and it will be time to stay clear of this place.
View of the Columbia River in the background.
Same spot as above.
Looking up at the hills. Lots of sweet hills to climb out here.
We had planned to ride a trail network that will take you from Hover clear into Finley on Dirt. I've ridden this trail since I was a kid and it's been several months since I've been out here. Well....there is now a huge new fence network set up with signs all over it saying it's now a designated Wilderness Area/No Motor Vehicles!
Stupid Tree Huggers, another great area to ride now off limits. Grrrrr...... Ok, now back on track.
We Stopped to take a couple photo's of whats left of the original Hover High School. Here's a little History on the School:
The Hover High School was constructed to replace the previous school building (built in 1923) that burned during Christmas vacation, 1924. Until 1933, it was known as the Hover High School, but following a school district consolidation with the town of Finley, the name was changed to River View High School. River View High School lasted until 1957, when Hover became a ghost town and the school was abandoned. After 1957, an elementary school building in Finley became the River View High School.I read in a book that the kids that lived in Plymouth WA would take the train to Hover and board there until the weekend rolled around, then they would ride the train back home. Wow, with modern roads and cars it's hard to imagine what it took to travel a short distance.
Here's a pic taken in 1930 of the School.
And what's left of the School now.
