| Nothing is for sure in our state...but I haven't heard of any 4 strokes getting their plates pulled...yet. Wasn't that bike street legal from the factory?
They pulled my plate on my 300 XCW, but it is a two stroke.
There is a ton of info on Thumpertalk and Advrider about this. The key is the 8th digit of the VIN. I can't remember what ones they are pulling look up those threads on the other sites.

A 2008 EXC will be fine, it comes factory with the emissions sticker on the frame like any other street legal bike. Only the earlier 07 and down KTM's that didn't come factory legal with the factory emissions stickers may give you problems in the future. Hodakaguy

| Just got the new sticker for the 300 made it another year. The lady at the dept. of licensing had a form/instructions on the ones they could not license. I got the license and did not stop to read the details, but the info was published by Washington DMV. PS the 300 is a 2000 model. | |

Hodakaguy It's actually 06 and down. 07's are golden if they're an EXC, which are the only street legal KTM model anyways, other than the bigger bikes.

| this whole plate pulling is a bunch of bullshit, dont they have anything better to do, i mean cmon, those plates are bringing the state revenue anyway, why waste taxpayer dollars pulling plates (rant off) Im looking at XR650 R's with plates and i talked to someone today that said the state wants to pull plates from all the bikes that weren't originally street legal, can anyone substantiate this? im gonna be pissed if i buy a bike with a plate and when i go to the courthouse to put it in my name they won't issue me a plate. | |

From what I've read that's exactly what they intend on doing. That's one of the reasons I ditched the XRR and went to my 530EXC, I decided to stick with something factory street legal with the emissions sticker on it. I didn't want to pour a ton of money into a bike and then have to worry about the plate being pulled at some random time in the future. It is BS but if you don't want to worry about it I'd stick with something factory legal. Hodakaguy

| Looks like it is legal to plate anything your want, provided it meets the minimum safety standards in the RCW's I have looked through a ton of forums on this issue and think I will be able to plate my 1989 XR250R no problemo. My VIN has a 0 as the 8th character, so I am anticipating no trouble plating it when I head into the DOL.
Has anyone else tried in the past few months?
