| it all began sunday morning at first i was not going to sign up for the race, but then something insideme said im here lets just do it. so i did sign up got ready and headed out. we all paraded around the campsite down to the starting line, which was amazing i never seen so many bikes lined up in a row i could not see the end of the bikes from the middle looking both ways, it was just simply amazing! as everyone parked their bikes almost everyone ran to the fence line to take a pee. then we stand in line and boom the cannon goes off! at first i told my self and everyone i was going to let the dust settle before i took off, well that went out the window. some how i found my self in the middle of the insanity! there were bikes crashing left and right of me infront of me and behind me, all with in the first 1000 feet of the start. visibilty was so poor i do not know how i made it through the start. so here i am in the first 50 mile lap of the most physical thing i have ever done in my life. the dust never settled i found my self being passed a lot and also passing alot of people as well. so i was having a blast. i hit all the check points and before i know it i was almost done with my first 50 mile lap. when getting to the pits to fuel up it hit me how tired i was when i could barely pick up the gas can and fuel up. i spilled so much everywhere. i drank some water and i was off again to finish the desert 100! even though i was physicly tired i was still enjoying the ride. at mile 75 i took a hard hit. i came up on a set of woops all hard pack and the last one was muddy muck. i saw it and i knew i needed to clear my front tire over that last woop but some how i just could not lift the front end over it like i did 100s of others that day. the front tire got sucked down into the muck and there i go over the handly bars at 25/30mph and landed on the only rock in the area, i just layed there for minutes hoping my leg was not broken, after the pain slowly wore off i finely had enough energy to get my bike up right and pull it off out of the way. and i just layed on the ground for about 30 minutes. i got back on the bike in pain hoping the more i rode it would wear off. it did not it just effected my riding until the finish. after 2 more smaller crashes and 25 more miles of riding in pain i finished the desert 100. and let me tell you i WILL NOT! complete the desert 100 on the 230L again! i promise you. every jump every woop its non stop maxing out my suspension and let me tell ya 100 miles of that hurts! all in all, i had a great time the boys up north, they were great to hang out with again. and i need to thank them so much for taking down the shade tent of mine when i was out riding. because when i got back i had not energy do nothing!. thanks again! for all of u who dont know there are 2 waves of starts at the dez 100 the first one im guessing had 1000+ bikes and maybe half that on the second. first person in each wave gets 500 dollar holeshot prize and this poor guy was trying his best to get that prize money. i hope he is ok! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyIGf9n-CH4 | |

| I heard about that crash at work today. does anyone know if he came out of it ok. I guess he was air lifted out. He was in second place ! Good job on the race. You have more courage then I. The iron man poker run last year was enough for me. Well atleast you got a good story out of it and a experience you will never forget ! | |

| The rider that crashed in the second wave had bruised lungs, a concussion and minor brain swelling, and needed stitches in his left leg; otherwise no life threatening or serious injuries. And Shane, we did the family poker run last year. | |

Big Props to you man! To attempt and finish a race like that even after going down a few times. Much Respect! If i wasn't hurt, I would've done it with ya, and I know how you feel when you say to your self that " i'm going to take it easy on the start and just try to finish," but then something takes over you as soon as the race starts and the whole game plan goes out the window as adrenalin kicks in. I'm glad you made it though safe.

| Great job, Chris, you're a brave man! That is one type of motorcycle racing I have never tried and it is one of the toughest. I think it is a bit late for me, but you will never forget this! Thanks for sharing. | |

| Chris, you are The Man! Way To Go!
I can't find the results anywhere, anyone?
Pete, why do you say that? The combination of pushing yourself that hard for that long over that type of terrain? Is it that different from the stuff you do? I'd think you'd tear that course up and make a great showing.

| I just wanted to say thanks to ALT Rider for donating one sweet Giant Loop saddle bag to the dual sport poker run! I was more than happy to take it home with me. I managed to still pull out three nines after Chris started a crazy chain of events back at camp that set the tone for the rest of the weekend starting with a trip to the Odessa ER, a two up layover and ended with a crazy puncture in the case of the engine on Shansaw's bike. Oh and the crazy dope smokers steeling all our JD when we weren't looking! What a crazy weekend! Once again Chris nice job on the race! | |
