| Update: Fenders removed, cleaned by wire wheel and painted to OEM semi gloss aluminium silver All brighwork polished. Going to leave any pitting along. It's 40 y/o so no need to rechrome - at least not yet. Next up is engine removal, cleaning of frame and REINSTALL everything. I had a bit of a challenge locating new rear brake pads but Yamaha in Bellevue was able to find them. I could use a headlight socket (odd wiring, headlight bulb socket). Does anyone have a spare? I'll try CL too. New one is $55...couldn't justify it. Maybe the old owner has it ona shelf in the barn. I am debating if the engine covers (gen/clutch) are worth powder coating or rattlng canning. I have had good luck with calliper paint on my ar so that's probably going to fly. New tires went on with a bit of sweat and wheels polished up nice with wire wheel and polishing wheel. Final poslish should look pretty sweet. I'll take some current pics and hope for display at the vintage car show at Carilon Pt (Kirkland, WA) in September. | |

| I've had good results with Duplicolor engine paint on my Hondas. Found a color that matches the Factory color exactly and it's very durable. Don't know if Yamaha is the same.

| PS note the rear fender and the 1970 ORV Sticker!! I decided to leave this as it was part of the mystique of the barn find. Now I need to find about 2 dozen, white grommets used throughout the bike. After 41 years the originals have all dried out and deserve replacements. | |

| Engine is back in, fenders going on and just now wrapping up wiring. Up next is fitting the seat and firing up the 'il Capra'. Anyone know if Tour de Vashon is on this year? Joined VME but haven't seen.
also looking to source the 2 dozen or so grommets that were on fenders etc. Apparentely the shelf life is just under 40 years ;)

| Enjoy seeing the pics of your rebuild and getting some vintage iron back on the road! One of my first dirt bikes every was a Yamaha 360, as a young teen I remember how kick butt powerful that bike was!
BTW, I used to attend the VME meetings and events when I lived in Seattle, really miss it! Great bunch of folks.

| Vroom vroom - Things are back together and running. Should it be surprising that a 41 year old enduro can still start fairly easily with fresh fuel, spark plug and oil?! Between the last post and now I have put things back together and got pretty much everything working. Here's how things look using a phone camera: | |

| Hows she running? What kind of speeds can you get? *Almost ran out and bought an old 350 sight/unseen. Told the wife to call the guy and if it ran I wanted it. She didn't do it cause it was two states away. **i know, not the same beast, but a project nontheless | |

I'm going to change out the oil seals as I think she's a bit smokey at higher revs. Those seals go after a while any way. I added the pin stripe to the tank and '69 175 Enduro decal to the oil tank to finish things off. I'll get some good pics up here soon.

Also listed in the CL. Edit: No longer for sale :) I like this thing too much plus I repainted and clear coated the tank and a spare one to boot.

| CT1 were based on the AT1 a 125 with an E-start dynamo and a 12VDC Ignition, But what I wanted to share with you.
CT1s would break kickstart gears because of the bigger engine ,but the 125 KS gears , factory field fix was to lower kick over compretion by drilling a 1/8 inch passage from the top of the cylinder to the exhaust port in the alumanum ,then cross drilling half way between the top of cyl and top of ex port. chanfer the hole so not to ketch the rings . copper head gasket covers the hole so no leaks , when you have the head off to set timing clean the carbon out of the by running a 1/8 drill bit down the hole by hand.
This cut the effective compretion in half at kick over speed ,but at Idle and above the small port has no effect on power, but does save KS gears.
Boston Cycles 1973-1978 Tech , still wrenchen Urals Moto Guzzies and Vespas.
